Straight out of the 1930s!!!
Gorgeous!
These towers are fantastic. I think buyers will be very receptive to this type of design/detail.
I hope the developer takes the same general template and builds all over the East Side.
I agree. They’re gorgeous.
Large ‘punch windows’ look better on the facade of the building; and provide ample interior light and views from inside the apartments. Punch windows (square cut-outs punched out the facade) as opposed wall-to-wall full height glass create a sense of enclosure or separation from the outside that is essential for a residential dwelling IMHO. This type of Architectural design works well in both form and function; beauty and practicality.
Residential floor to ceiling, wall to wall windows means floor to ceiling, wall to wall blinds or drapes.
That crappy Apple Bank must go.
True: but, to me it is just not the same ‘feel’ as having a wall between your home and the outside elements. I find that the ‘punch’ type window makes for a much more comfortable interior: but that is just me, my preference. Here is a photo I took of an upper east side apartment with full height, wall-to-wall glass: only two blocks from Beckford House. The sheer shades are very nice, and thick: but not the same as a WALL.
PS: They are automated: Alexa, “open my blinds”. Thats a big thing these days in residential condos.
My apartment has a floor to ceiling wall to wall in the living room but punch windows in the bedrooms, which I think is a nice compromise
I see from the rendering above that the Beckford House also has “monumental” windows on some of the upper and Penthouse floors: I learned that term today. ‘Monumental Windows’ explained on Youtube - Types of Windows: Punched Openings, Window Walls and Monumental Windows - YouTube
