It was terrible and not suited to the area, which has transformed over the past twenty years from ghastly Gehenna to gorgeous and glorious.
As Kaufman buildings go this one may actually turn out OK. That would be shocking.

I can’t believe Gene Kaufman has finally designed a decent looking building. Perhaps we’ll see more decent designs from Kaufman now that it’s so much harder to build his specialty, cheap hotels. His practice will have to transition to office or residential work, which require much nicer designs than his usual roach hotels.
