Finally, progress on the Bean!

When I walked by a few days ago it seemed that 3/4 of the cement sidewalk sections which had the markings (and were ripped up) are now back to new cement with no markings. It’s like they are going backwards. Anyone know what is going on lately?

Didn’t get a pic of the sidewalk :frowning:

Not sure but the original cement was cracked. They probably want to fix that and insure water sealing before installing the bean. Just a guess.

That makes sense to me. Hopefully we see more updates on the bean soon.

How does this work? Are we waiting for the Chicago bean to give birth to this one? It’s been a riveting adventure waiting for this last part haha.

Now that you’ve put the idea in my head, the Chicago bean is now an amoeba for all time and this will be its asexually produced offspring.

No bean so far. I walked past yesterday and they do have new concrete where the bean will go, but every other piece of concrete sidewalk they poured around the entire site is cracked. Every piece! Terrible job by the contractor here.

Right! I walked by last Friday and saw the same thing. But I noticed one significant change. Rather than the cement being smooth there are very slight curves under where the bean will go. So it may be that water proofing was not the issue but establishing a properly shaped base was.

Cool. I didn’t even notice that.

Love how this thread is now #BeanWatch2019

This will never happen

Now do you know that or are you assuming? Yes, it’s been a while but the indents for the Bean are in the ground and on the ceiling of one of the jenga blocks

Change is cute!

Would be nice if the bean was larger than Chicagos. But yet again, we do have this thing called “The Vessel” in Hudson Yards which is an alien piece of technology.

I’m keeping an eye on the Vessel. I feel one day one of these things will pop out of it. :running_man: :alien:
