The Avenir, if chosen as the winner of a competitive bidding war for a casino license in New York City and approved for development, will operate under the Destination by Hyatt brand and will include 1,000 rooms and suites. The project seeks to capitalize on its proximity to the Javits Center and mix gaming, business tourism, and hospitality in one development.
The developer, which is looking to build a casino on Manhattan’s Far West Side, sweetened its $7 billion proposal with the carrot of converting offices into 2,000 apartments, Bloomberg reported. A quarter of those converted units would be designated affordable.

Another deadline Sept. 30
After the applications are submitted, a community advisory committee appointed by elected local officials will be formed for each proposal to study its economic and other effects. After Friday, the bidders also have another deadline to meet: By Sept 30, they must complete the entitlement process, such as securing any required zoning, and an environmental review.
That nighttime view is a massive disappointment in regards to lighting.
Why? I only oppose of this project specifically because I strictly believe Silverstein Properties should focus and finish the site they poised would be completed OVER A DECADE AGO, but design wise it’s very nice. Especially for the Hells Kitchen area, this will definitely stand out along with The Torch at 740 Eighth Avenue
I’m focusing on the lighting (or lack thereof). The building itself is cool - I re-edited my post to reflect on this. I’m sure cool effects can be achieved with the wavy facade that’d make it stand out at night.
People freaking out in the comments there over nothing lol
The locals seemed to like what’s proposed.
It seems they’re freaking out because they reckon the website sold out.
Let’s not kid ourselves, folks. Everyone has a price.
I also really like the proposal, and I hope they get the license.
Waaa waaa a single promoted article with a disclaimer at the start. Sites do it all the time! It’s not too far off from being a neutral article that highlights a very good development (jobs, tourism, more safety, good architecture, new dining settings, residential component, community spaces) unless you’re some progressive nimby thinking everyone and everywhere has to build some grossly unprofitable mass housing.
Silverstein has owned the site for 50 years and finally it’s time to develop this spot, as he did with 3 large residential towers just next door.
The only thing that should set it apart from an article you’re supposed to find in such a website, is specifically promoting the hearing itself.
