NEW YORK | 3 World Trade Center | 1,079 FT | 68 FLOORS

I like the version we have now to be honest. It looks cleaner and is not busy.

The original design was by far the coolest. I’ve generally never been a fan of braceface modern buildings but 3 pulled it off perfectly.

I was more upset about losing most of the bracing than I was about the spires. The spires didn’t feel right after they stripped most of the beams and shortened it as much as they did.

The original is an interesting concept, but I like what we have now. Even without the spires. Most of the metal cladding is vertical like the Twin Towers, while keeping the original concept of the angled metal beams with a different pattern design. It’s not that bad, and I’m honestly glad 3 WTC is finished and in the skyline

Almost good enough to forget there ever was a 2WTC to get off the ground.

They has to save some millions to commission a dozen redesigns, renderings, videos and models for 2WTC

What could’ve been, indeed  It’s as the B1M said about this site; “The World’s Biggest Compromise”

They haven’t washed this side since the construction elevator was dismantled.

They did (there’s a washing platform operating routinely) but the glass was not looked after during construction hence it can’t be fully cleaned. Same thing happened in 4WTC.

I doubt that the glazing could have been ruined during the construction process. For example, we don’t see such cases at Hudson Yards. 270 Park was also only washed after the construction was completed.

I guess that they only wash the facade from the memorial side. No one can see the facade from the Brooklyn side.

The facade at 270 was washed multiple times throughout the duration of construction by local rigs before the BMUs were installed.

^ and it was done to specifically avoid this WTC fiasco

It’s definitely doable for them to go back and fix this at some point. When they finally had the new BMUS at 1 World Trade Center and did a deep clean in 2020, they were able to remove persistent construction grit from the windows but it was painstakingly slow. It seems like 3WTC has just been doing superficial cleanings and would need to break out the goo gone to break down the dirt buildup.

The disrespect all of these new towers get is asinine. None of these buildings are properly maintained or cared for. Such a sin.
