As someone who lived on the far East side of Manhattan, I find it quite run down and depressing. Things go downhill dramatically East of 3rd (though 3rd is largely unpleasant too).
This is just gross.
It’s a shame too because the north facade is beautiful, but the East facade on 2nd looks disgusting.

Looking at this photo, I thought there was a cool strip of latticework running down the middle of the facade. Unfortunately, upon closer inspection I saw it’s just the tower crane.
