Really loving the convex shape of it as well. Everything from those exterior triangles to the vertical lines helps to really make it soar.

I can say that it took a lot of time and effort designing this building. This project is my favorite project to work on. From the overall design to the features in this building. I believe we presented about 5 models back in 19’. Foster wanted to have this tower stand out but also align with the skyline. This design is also unique because we needed to also connect with the vital transport infrastructure of the city below.

I found an exit at 45th/Vanderbilt. There might be more.

Some full-resolution frame rips from that beautiful video. I can’t get enough of this building!

And thank you Matthew for sharing the higher quality file!

Love the podium and the heavy, solidity of the bracing. However, I do wish the crown was a bit more intricate and thoughtful, especially given its prominence . As is–three ever-so-slightly tapered rectangular solids–it’s a bit boring IMO.

But that podium! Glorious.

speaking of running water, from the F+P instagram post

270 Park Avenue will be New York City’s largest all-electric skyscraper with net zero operational emissions and will be 100% powered by renewable energy sourced from a New York State hydroelectric plant.
The project also recycled, reused or upcycled 97% of the building materials from the demolition – far exceeding the 75% requirement of the leading green building standard.

Is it cladded with actual copper or is it just a copper color?

Thanks, Matt. Are there waterwalls on either side of the Madison Ave entrance that flow down into basins on the ground, or are there only basins on the ground which were referenced in some specs?

Foster hit a grand slam with this tower.

Just my assumption but probably a copper color. If they’re going for a copper look using actual copper wouldn’t keep that forever.

Outside of Sears Tower, name a city in the developed world that has a 1,400 foot tower like this.

Absolutely incredible that it’s just another supertall going up in Manhattan.

NYC! America! Capitalism! Democracy!

There’s like a dozen in China. I think Moscow might have some. Taipei. I could give a more extensive list with more time

The ones in China are half empty and built with slave labor by the dreadful Chairman Mao who supports his genocidal friend in Russia.

  1. Let’s not instantly descend into this, the thread is about 270 park. This will be my last comment on this.
  2. None of that has anything to do with what he asked. He asked if there were cities in the developed world with 1,400 footers like this. There are, most of them are in China.

China and Russia are not the developed world.
