It’s crazy how back in the early 60s this was the newest technology future of a building, now we think it’s shitty. At least the renderings of the new one will look really nice. It’s all glass but respectfully has the limestone copper with it.
most stuff getting built today, looks shitty within a decade too
don’t worry
37 feet shorter, not so bad to me in my opinion. It’ll still stand out in the skyline
Yea, 270 is still a hulking mass, even compared to Vandy
I assume the 1,388 feet height doesn’t include the parapet.
and i’d be shocked if this tower has only 58 floors, even with its floor sizes.
If 58 is the number of actual office floors and didn’t include mechanical floors I wouldn’t be surprised at all.
That’s basically the actual floor count for One Vandy, although Vandy has the spire…

Does anyone know how much has come down thus far?
Check out this image by Baronsphoto- 277 Park Avenue is right behind the Chrysler Building, we’ll use it for reference. 277 is 687 feet tall, and 270 Park was originally 707 feet, or 20 feet taller. We can see that its crown is gone altogether, and it’s now level with what I’m guessing is 277’s 47th or 48th floor.
Dang, 270 Park is now getting shorter quick

Earth Cam today
Noticeably shorter now. There is a building, seen to the “left” of Citigroup" tower, with a kind of double height floored at the crown level, that appears in both pics, you can use as a yardstick from this pov.
