That’s a really nice tower.
Where is it?
Anyway, it doesn’t “fan out” like JPMC supposedly will.
Its the new tower in Detroit that’s currently being proposed . It’s a bit shaky right now. But we’ll see if it gets built.
Awesome. I like Detroit. It has beautiful old buildings.
The Arsenal of Democracy!
Based on the footprint we’ve seen, this has the potential to be nice, unlike the 1,000’ loaf of Wonderbread at 50 HY.
If Norm wanted to deliver a really nice design, a “hole” near the top of each setback with outdoor space covered by a roof would be awesome.
Unfortunately, however, based on JRF’s comments, I suspect that this will be as lame as 50 HY.
Based upon this comment, I shudder at the thought of how terrible this will be. Further, if the HORRIFIC Tower Fifth is built, we will have two very tall, very terrible towers dominating that area.
However, this seems to be our sole cause for hope, as it indicates several setbacks of some sort and not a 1,350 box.
I’m at least hoping all the exterior columns will be the gold color
Perhaps it will be similar in color to Fosters CITIC bank building
Foster rarely designs unique towers. Instead, he seems to recycle projects. Based upon the fanned out footprint, I could envision it looking like his Shenzhen tower, which I just came across and was surprised how similar they look to what I envisioned and sketched based upon the footprint.
I’d be quite pleased with that. I just really hope that his doesn’t “Abner Louima” us with another 50 HY, which is simply terrible.
Meh. I’m sure it’ll be “classy”. But I truly don’t understand why a company with that much money would pay for a starchitect and then accept such a boring design.
Great materials alone won’t make up for a horrible design. Fister really “Abner Louima’d” New York with this fat, heinous box.
While I agree with you, I think the main difference here is that 50 Hudson was a generic design that could work with different types of companies who would want to lease space there. At 270 Park, this will be the headquarters of a giant corporation. But I still don’t get why they would choose a “boring” design to symbolize the company. What happened to the good days of buildings like the Seagram or the BoA Tower. Let’s just wait and see, he may still surprise us!
Let’s keep our fingers crossed, but I’m wary of this comment by the guy who’s actually seen the design, coupled with Fister’s record of designing garbage for NY.
Hopefully we will be surprised. The cross bracing at the base will most likely run up the full height with some sort of cap or crown. If you watch the video of Norm about 425 park, he’s obsessed with a skyline element
What’s the link for that camera?
A friend of mine is in NYC, and she said she was talking to a workman at 270 Park, who thinks the whole building will be gone by March. Seems awfully fast, is that even plausible?
