I visited 270 Park Ave today.

There’s the installation of black granite(?) starting on both sides where the park/plaza area is located.

This mornings cam has a nice mood to it IMO.

That’s just glass with either a film or coating/ some type of backpan on the back or sandwiched inbetween to make it opaque to prevent the insulation behind it from being visible. I think it first popped up in late July?

Stone of that dimension would be hung much differently with supports like those being installed on the adjacent Madison Ave facing side rather than traditional stick system mullions, it would also be much thicker if it were of slabs that large.

The capping mullion piece will probably be installed closer to completion as with the other mullions on the base.

I was confused on what you meant since I was able to access this cam over the web for a while now. But now I’m seeing it on my EarthCam app(s) as well which is way more convenient.

I wonder why they removed the boom from the derrick crane.

they didnt, its just laying down flat, away from the photo, bearing on the edge of that last tier probably, or just inboard of it.

They also began lowering the crane’s height, should go down soon.

Ah, indeed it is :+1:t2:

they lowered it to just above the setback, that means they will probably point the boom southwest when they take it off ( that would foul the building if they went lower), then drop it to the street.

that white model is particularly cool. It shows the beams that transfer the weight of the tower below the train shed to the foundation.

I think what is more interesting than anything being shown is that the concrete columns are being shown as individual columns when a significant portion of the foundation supports below ground are resting atop shear walls.

It should also be noted that some of the old foundations of the previous building were used and were just reinforced inside the shear wall.
