NEW YORK | 262 Fifth Ave | 860 FT | 60 FLOORS

That may be the one saving grace of Comrade Putin’s war of aggression.

Ah, so it could be fine after all. Hmm interesting. We’ll have to see how the state handles other projects as well.

Yeah, this is a U.S.-based project. Whether the architect is based in Russia is immaterial, especially since the design phase has long since ended.

I really hope that this is not horrendous.

I passed by the area recently and was pleasantly surprised to see how small the lot is, hoping it won’t have much of an impact on the views of the ESB from the south.

What’s been going on with this project?… have they started vertical ascent/foundation work yet?

OMG, I forgot about this. I wish it would be seized by the government.

^Yes ofc you do. Not going to happen.

Anyways the latest updates I can find are still from Apr. I have no idea what’s been going on since

I wonder if they have only done site work to take advantage of those tax benefits. It’s a small site so it could be done by now, someone would have to go by and check

The last time I was by there in May it looked like the foundation was finished or close to being done, probably for the tax benefits as mtoltethys mentioned.

I could deal with this building if it didn’t have that insane metal facade with portholes on Fifth Ave.

I walked by last week on the other side of 5th Ave. I think you’re right about putting in the foundation for tax purposes. Certainly nothing sticking up over the perimiter barrier.

Well I guess that means the supertalls going up currently goes back down to 3. 270 Park, Brooklyn Tower and 520 Fifth Ave I believe (or at least this one is undergoing site prep)

The Russian guy in charge of this design is not a reputable NY developer. This city is a magnet for hucksters and all types of financial scoundrels.

I’m skeptical.

SLCE is the architect of record for 262 Fifth. They probably do more highrise work in NYC than any other architect. The engineer is FNA, probably also the most-used highrise engineering firm in NYC. So nothing remotely different about this project.

Oh yeah btw there’s been a slight decrease of 10 ft.
The current height is 1000 ft. Flat.

Per NYguy:
The units here will be mostly duplexes, which is why there are so few…

Wasn’t there just another building that had its height changed to 1,000 feet as well?

Yes. 520 Fifth, though that one was going up 5 five feet instead of down.
Neither of their heights changed all that much
