Proposal, Sept 17, 2019:
LPC Hearing, Oct 31, 2019:
The visual presentation is beautiful. The drawings, renders and diagrams It’ll be great seeing this piece of history revitalized.
The preservation argument seems to be that too much of the original timber will be removed, but on the whole, this looks like it could be a stunning adaptation of the complex.
Why is this listed as proposed?
Seems like the thread was made from before it actually started being renovated/restored. The last update is the first since works began.
What an incredible project. Adaptive reuse at its very best.
I used to have storage in this building. Its big problem is lack of natural light.
I agree. It’s a beautiful building.
The lack of natural light was an advantage to its original purpose as a warehouse. The current design cuts huge swaths of light through the center of the building. Disadvantageous for the historic preservation of the timber framing, but advantageous for adaptive reuse. Feels to me like the architects did a nice job balancing the two.
