Im hoping we hear something within the next 6 months. I think that’d be a fair timeline. Who knows maybe we’ll get a nice christmas present fingers crossed

I would give it 2-3 months if were looking for an amex announcement (if they dont back out). Theyve been negotiating for 2 months at this point from what we know, and been flirting with the idea since 2022. We know nothing about whats going on but i hope this lengthy period could involve some design changes.

“In the not very distant future” can be a long time in the real estate industry

We’ll see if AmEx is a rush or not. They’ll have to consider options for their current space too.

Doesn’t look bad in this angle.

Waiting on you, Tower Two

Everyday I keep hoping we hear Amex has signed a lease. The diamond design will always be where my heart lies but im excited for this current proposal too

Funny. Just today I remember a certain ash tray souvenir I saw years ago in Lower Manhattan with One WTC and the diamond Two WTC next to each other with other landmarks. I was looking for that today, but no luck. The diamond design is the best of all

Oh that would have been cool to see. I so wish I could have a model of the diamond design. It will always disappoint me that design never got to see the light of day

Found my photo of it! And the location, I  NY Gifts at the corner of Carlisle and Greenwich! Definitely not an ash tray, I got that mixed up with similar souvenirs

Camera shots of the site. I wonder if they’re gonna preserve this art and place it somewhere else when construction commences

Use it in the lobby. And have all the legal issues been dealt with that take the 5Pointz case into account?

By the time WTC2 gets build this structure might be considered an ancient monument and protected by UNESCO.

In my country we have something similar, a wooden house from the 1630’s that was protected by a later structure that is now also protected as monument constructed in the 1890’s

That’s a pretty good observation! Threw together a quick 45 Park model for this rendering – the two do have a nice dialogue from the north:

The cover photo on the projects page on their website shows a good close up of the top

As much as I feel the “diamonds” was the best iteration, seeing different angles/renders makes me realize the current design has tons of outdoor terraces (something the original design was lacking) that likely make great selling points for future tenants! It’d be nice to see this under construction before the 25th anniversary :face_holding_back_tears:

I’m just not sold on having two different curtain wall treatments (Horizontal on the South, vertical on the North) yet. I can appreciate the functionality, having exterior shading where there’s sun, but visually it looks undercooked to me.
