NEW YORK | 200 Greenwich St (2WTC) | 1,251 FT | 90 FLOORS | ON HOLD

It’s beyond insulting they’ve left 2 WTC a stump as long as they have. I don’t care if this sat mostly empty for years. It should have been built just given the fact that it’s the successor to the South Tower. At least before 3 or 4 WTC. The money was always there to do it with how much was blown on the rest of the site otherwise (aside from the memorial / museum). I’m sorry but it’s a joke. Build the damn thing already. Complete the main site. It’s way past time it was done.

Can we all please get back to the original topic title.

Hopefully it’s at least as tall as the roof of 1 WTC

Foster+Partners are the kings of drip-feeding details of their proposed designs, between 2WTC Penn 15, 350 Park, and previously 270 Park. Granted their circumstances are all completely different and outside the firm’s control, but each project is like a treasure hunt of drawings and renderings!

Ok thread cleaned up. Also that user was banned.

“Hanus”= Heinous + :face_with_peeking_eye:

Also looking back at post 1683 when the possible current design had more terraces at the top. Reworking my model yesterday, I noticed how the new design has an evenly spaced terrace pattern that spirals around the whole tower. Once again I believe that was inspired by BIG’s design, but a great element to insert into this design

In this speech from december 2022 Larry Silverstein speaks about the plans for 2WTC, a fully carbon neutral building. Starting constuction in 2024 and done in 2029.

It suits with the leaked renders and the green terraces. A fully climate neutral tower could be popular selling point, for now. Because more will follow.

Did he just say it’ll cost 5 Billion USD

Not to mention he says they’ve spent over 20 billion dollars after a 3.2 billion acquisition (Original WTC). He also states that the tower will start in the middle of 2024…yet how is that possible

Does it require a massive overhaul of the foundations like the BIG design did? If not, I imagine a tower could fly up pretty quickly on top of the existing foundations.

Or do you just mean how could it happen if we haven’t heard about an anchor tenant?

5 billion dollars don’t grow on trees, and neither are prospective tenants for such a costly thing.

I do not quite believe that is true as one has to be mindful that there are also terraces to the north that do not follow any sort of pattern (or the pattern youve shown), I’m also not sure how the concept wouldve been taken from BIG’s design since his did not spiral.

@MarshallKnight fortunately, all of F+P’s iterations all build off the same principle foundation structure currently installed unlike BIG’s which would have greatly altered the structure past the base, so that would greatly increase the ability to get back to work quickly.

So far, we’ve only seen one rendering of the north face of the somewhat final design. There’s only few known terraces on the north side, but I’m sure there’s more to continue this spiral pattern all around the tower. Once we see official renderings, I think we’ll see more open spaces

I wouldnt say somewhat final design since all 5 of the “official” leaked depictions all show the same thing and conform with the latest sketch that was posted. The render that Mackensen posted shows all of the terraces on the north side but one which is visible in another render of the east side, otherwise there are no other terraces that are being hidden by the Four Seasons Tower.

But generally the terraces do not follow the pattern that you’ve described/shown, they follow a much more east to west/ less slanted pattern than top to bottom pattern in which they are actually evenly spaced from the east to south to west to north sides and back again. This pattern slowly rises in angle up the tower and does continue onto the north side.

This design should not, as it will be built right over the “stump”.

I assume that one of few changes will be removing these four columns or relocating the columns throughout the first few floors of the new tower. Once this starts, we could first see new fences put up, removal of the metal cladding on the stumps, erected tower crane(s), then the structure rising

Speaking of BIG’s design, it did spiral, but from the inside, and maybe TK2000 was referring to it.
It had some nice features frankly.
