The growth has been incredible.

I think the decline of SSC has helped as well. Well, I say, the folks that love and want to intellectually discuss NY projects and the region (and cities in general) are all welcomed here.

Yimby, himself, provided the impetus for a great site by his unparalleled scoops. For example, he provided renderings for One Central Park and 270 Park, among other projects, before anyone. He’s the Walter Cronkite of NY skyscraper news.

The financial repercussions of the zoning regulation challenge must be astronomical for this project. There is something in RE finance called “loan-to-value-ratio” that qualifies a developer to get funding, and obviates any eventual foreclosure action taken by the lender. The ‘sell-out value’ of any project must be greater than the construction and debt service costs; this zoning challenge must have rendered this project a bust…:expressionless:

I hope the news on the legal proceedings - and financial repercussions for the developer - will eventually become public information; but as of now there is no new news that I can find.

This ‘height chop’ story was once covered in every minute detail in the real estate news: this story has gone dormant.

I can’t say too much on such delicate issues: or I will end up getting ‘shadow banned’… :unamused:

Infoshare—The story is dormant because the courts are so ridiculously slow. Everyone is waiting on the appellate court to deliver its long awaited opinion. Once that happens there will be a deluge of reports. Then it will go dormant again if the case is taken to the NY Court of Appeals and, if the cut off floors result is affirmed there, to SCOTUS.

That entry way facade is looks quite luxurious. It seems all the legal wrangling about this building has distracted from noticing that this is one beautifully designed building.

Terrific photo. That blanket of freshly driven snow out front sure helps to enhance the look of this building’s grand entrance lobby.

Agreed. A stunning entryway that exceeds this building’s market position— this front is reminiscent of 220 CPS or the Waldorf Astoria renovation. Very impressive.

Kind of a “duh” ruling. This was never a controversy, it was a stalling/punishing tactic by wealthy UWS NIMBYs. It’s happened before, and will happen again, unfortunately.

Yes, that is a DUH result; but we will never know if there were yet still some other ‘agendas’ served by this silly saga. If you ask me, it all ‘smells’ - but beyond that I care not to inquire further. :wink:

Here is my take away, admittedly takin directly form the article posted above: Judge Perry - “should have deferred to the BSA’s rational interpretation”.
