I presume the real picture with the scale models are the right massing and such, those renders stay vague i.m.h.o. some images work like an opitcal illusion where WTC2 looks like its simalar height as WTC3.
I guess more official renderings will come out from PR Silverstein/Amex in the near future?

I think how you’re depicting the lighting on the fins is much better than how they’re actually planned to be lit. The lighting is only planned to be on the very edge of the fin (very similar to the N/S lighting on 270 where the fixture is visible), not backdropped. So the fins themselves wont be lit up as depicted.

You’re right, I was playing it loose with editing the lighting, and the light source ended up looking more like it’s from the east

I’m so thrilled this is getting built finally - Amex is very well managed and another signature tower is going to put pressure on other firms to upgrade. Out of the blue they sent my pops who is not some high roller a nice rug for 50 years as a customer…
with the battery park upgrade I am hopeful for a downtown renaissance

Great find. That first rendering seems to make the tower look shorter than in the other views/model pics we’ve seen. I wonder if that’s just perspective and is accurate of if it’s a rendering error?

I think it’s just that that rendering is particularly poorly edited – the perspective of the 2WTC model overall doesn’t match the scene. All the VisualHouse renderings for 2WTC aren’t great in terms of photo-editing, I believe it’s their interactive Novaverse model edited into photos almost as an afterthought.

I like that the building has the vibe of the first 3WTC design. The technical stripes and setbacks are arranged in a similar way. There are quite a lot of details on the facade The building also has a similar aggressiveness.
Richard Rogers’ 2WTC building might have looked something like this.

This tower has a look similar to Willis/Sears Tower’s multiple tube shaft design. The genius-level hex shape makes it all look almost like a bunch of separate units.
