NEW YORK | 2 World Trade Center | 1,226 FT | 55 FLOORS

I really don’t understand the pace of this project. They haven’t even bothered removing the old fence on the western edge of the actual footprint even though its completely blocked in in by the new walls. Surely that’s just a hassle for the workers not to be able to walk between those areas freely?

They’re greatly focusing on the basement at the moment. I’m sure by the time the cranes are up in August things will be moved around

Maybe a stupid question, but is it likely that some of the infrastructure/vents that are painted with art end up within the permanent construction, like enclosed in the future construction to be never seen again? Or is all of that part of the temporary vents. Imagine maintenance work in 2096 seeing painted tubes like some 19th century art.

It should be all temporary covers. Under those are concrete the make up the emergency stairways. So to continue to build up the structure they would all have to be eventually removed

Edit: here’s a photo shared on skyscrapercity from 600west218. It shows the concrete structures thats under the art covers

Thank you that makes more sense.

I cant be 100% sure but I think they might actually be in the process of removing the temporary fence along the western edge

I wish Joe Woolhead still published photos like these of the world trade center site. Flash back to when the tower was first under construction and entering the on hold phase back in 2012

Couple of new shots. They have a concrete pumper on site today. I saw one a few weeks back as well but can’t really see where they are pouring.

I have noticed in pictures recently these squared off areas that look like maybe some concrete work being done in those areas maybe. Ive thought it interesting because the area in the second photo is where the stairs were supposed to be in the original plan since the ground floor wasn’t completely level and kinda sloped upwards towards the back. Idk it may just be nothing though or maybe fixing some damaged areas

It’s too early for that kind of concrete “sculpturing” detail, they will also have to fill the scenic elevator shafts of the trading floors and do plenty of things like that yes, but the site is too messy to begin those things, a lot of equipment moving thru can cause tear to any forms they cast.

So, might be a platform for some vents or other mech equipment.

I know they cast the stairs back when they built it to ground level but covered them up in the meantime. That makes sense for the other stuff though. I didn’t think about the trading floor elevators
