Maybe about 60ish% done with the screen until it reaches the northern end?
It’s hard to believe that this used to be such an ugly building, though it’s not “amazing”, it’s definitely better than what it was before.
i feel the general public will be pleasantly surprised once the scaffolding comes down on this one
They opened up a chunk of the plaza and you can stand under the ceiling screen now, it’s definitely nice (a vast improvement over what was here before and very bright! They’ve nearly reached the other end as well.
The area will definitely feel less claustrophobic once it’s fully opened up. Exiting Penn from the adjacent entrance has been quite miserable with the site boarded up with construction fencing and scaffolds.
I agree, the amount of scaffolding and sidewalk sheds in and around the area is insane! Especially the giant shed covering the new Gateway entrance and all the fences and temporary barricades around it!
As for the plaza itself, I like how it is really a giant plinth with stairs leading up to it, though a flat plaza would’ve made it more open without a doubt because of a seamless transition from sidewalk to plaza/property, i think the plinth separates the traffic of the sidewalk and the traffic of the plaza. And theres still quite a bit of width between the face of the ground floor and the fence separating it from the opened portion of the plaza, so it’s actually really big/wide.

I’m excited for all of this to finish because it really is a mess with the pedestrian flow.

Finally, the bottom skirt around the expansion portion is being built out.
Doesn’t work well for me. It just seems odd—out of kilter. The cantilever is out of sync with the tower. Maybe it’s better in person. I’ll have to stop by and take a look.
