If the roof is going to be flat inside of the crown (and I think the crown is fine, no need for a spire) then maybe they should make an observation deck there. Even if you have to look through the lattices ( not ideal ) I believe it would be an amazing experience.
The Grand Hyatt at 1646 feet compared to my design sketch as the world’s tallest building (please ignore the color changes).
City Planning vote is on October 18th, then it’s on to the City Council for final approval. Passing should be no issue. Got this from another forum on 175 park.
I see the Blood Center and 343 Madison are scheduled for votes tomorrow, with commissioners Cerullo and Douek recused. That’s cutting it close!
Got this from NYguy on skyscraper page forum. NEW YORK | (Grand Hyatt) 175 Park Avenue | 1,575 FT | 86 FLOORS - Page 72 - SkyscraperPage Forum
Some Landmark’s approvals related to Grand Central/175 Park
While this growth is great to see, it’s going to be scary in the end with all of the iconic towers currently in the skyline. Chrysler is absolutely dwarfed in that rendering
I wonder if the MetLIfe building is ever going to be torn down and another (hopefully much better) supertall gets built there.
It’ll be home to the Earth’s mightiest heros
The MCU has given us so many cool shots of NY in film, but their best work is sticking Stark Tower right over the MetLife Building.
Anyway glad to see this confirmed to 1646’ what a behemoth.
I unironically like the Stark tower design and would love to see it actually get built. (Although obviously modified, like taking that big A off of it.) The problem is I don’t know how it would fit in, or the logistics of it. lol
Its spirit lives at 30 HY
The MetLife and Helmsley buildings should both be eliminated and replaced with this…
Oh and guys, speaking of the Hyatt hotel currently beside Grand Central. Or rather the building behind it. 175 Park is going to have a wrap-around terrace, which means we get 360-degree views. This is great for views of the Chrysler Building and the hidden side of Grand Central but it also means we have to see the back of this building behind it.
I can’t tell based on the wording if this height at 1646 feet is approved or not…
No idea. It’ll definitely be 1,600+ but I have no idea about the specific height.
The last paragraph also says it may be 1118 feet…
That’s the no-action condition, and it can be disregarded. Even if they were to downsize it (hint: they won’t) it wouldn’t go down to 1,118 feet.
