Dunno if this was posted here before.
It’s kinda funny hearing them talk about how there “won’t be anything like it” and “it’s unparalleled anywhere else in the city” now that the rest of 57th street has gone up lol. (And considering this is one of the smaller supertalls in the city) But they couldn’t have known what we know now.
When the crown lighting was first being tested, color and moving graphics showed up. There was a flying flag for that July 4 period. Since then no colors have shown up. It’s just been a boring splash of bright white lighting. What’s the problem?
I think that it’s just been neglected, any recent photo/video shows that several of the light strips on the left edge (as viewed from CP) have been off and one near the middle has been glitched out for some time now, since early last year.
Once you start paying attention to the city lights it becomes clear that these towers’ lighting systems are ridiculously unreliable and almost no building doesn’t have a number of blown out or glitched bulbs/LEDS. Drives me crazy sometimes
From the looks of it, only the ESB, Chrysler and 1 VB pay attention and care to their lighting schemes. The rest just don’t seem to care. It seems like the private developers on billionaires row don’t particularly care.
