I’m currently looking at the Midtown skyline and thinking to myself how if we had a few 2000+ footers paired up with the current giants I could die happy.

From Field Condition website: best view of current conditions I could find.

I see this has been done on this thread, missed that - sorry. It is so good we can show it twice… I don’t claim to know how long these things are ‘supposed’ to take to complete - but this final stage seems to be moving at a slower pace. I am wondering what the projected ‘occupancy date’ is on this project.

US Cranes said the jump has been on hold, but they asked and they said it’s possibly happening today

This is fascinating to watch; these last few steel beams being put in place at such a great height and on such a slender platform. This, to my mind, is the construction equivalent of watching a ‘high wire’ act - I find it “riveting”. Pun intended.th

Around 11 today, look close and you can see something big was lifted. Could be a tie beam to connect the crane to the tower

Or perhaps one of the several steel beams that are needed to complete the top section. I am glad to see some activity there, whatever that is they have hoisted, so the completion of the steel skeletal structure is near.

Yup, tie beam installed. I checked Earthcam and the crane does look higher

I am guessing that is one of the longest tie beams ever in NYC. I do not recall ever seeing a crane tower at such a great distance from the top of the building where materials are being hoisted. However that is only a bit of ‘Probabilistic Thinking’ on my part - could very well be wrong.

Will this be the week 111 tops out?

US Cranes has texted me and confirmed the jump. As I recall from the last sets of steel on 111 West 57, 3 boxes were constructed in a month, so this could top out around 2 weeks since the last 2 boxes to be construction are taller
