It looks like the dense fog tonight in the city makes it very hard to see the state of the crane at night
Yo I was just there:joy:
Im guessing the debris is from the hook slamming into the tower. I don’t think the wind is strong enough to flip the boom which is what happened 8 years ago.
Coincidence…
Yikes. Is the debris from the building or part of the crane?
Yo I’m glad the cpt crane is gone imagine if we had two of them
Hopefully one of our intrepid photographers will capture and share with us updates on the condition of the building and crane during the day once the weather’s cleared up!
the crane didnt do anything it shouldnt have done. the hook was left a bit too long and when the crane was weathervaning the hook extended outward (centrifugal force) and looks like it hit the building. definitely an oversight by either the engineer or the operator.
try 75 mph at 1200’
That’s a costly oversight.
Too bad such an accident happened to a great building like this. It’s a replay of One57 during Sandy.
I want to see the extent of the damage to the curtain wall. This may require jumping the crane back up to full height to do the repairs.
We need the Drone guy to come and give us a birds eye view…
this job is going to be shut down for a long time.
full inspection of the building and the crane, plans to secure loose debris and repair damage to the crane parts if needed, removal of damaged materials, repair, and replacement. perhaps having to jump the crane back up.
probably will cost them a few months.
All this over an oversight, now that’s sad!
The debris on the ground looks like the stuff that was rigging for installing the final bit of glazing. Looks like a row of south cladding was also damaged. Let’s hope we get some good damage photos soon.
