This new proposal was discussed at the recent IDA Meeting and seeks to connect the transit center more directly to the city’s downtown area, however, the new tower you see in the renderings and site plan will be discussed at a later date. This road proposal will be a subject at a public hearing in September.

New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson and Megalith Capital Management CEO Sam Sidhu will be on hand Wednesday afternoon to break ground on “The Printhouse,” a complex featuring than 70 small apartment units in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of the Metro-North train station - which is poised become “a door to the community, serving as a bridge to the past, as well as the future,” according to developers with RDRXR.
Word is that it’ll be around 3PM.

a new project on Burling Lane is set to be unveiled in 2019. Should be >110 units.
The Printhouse isn’t the only mixed-use building going up in a few-block radius around the city’s transit center.
In June, they broke ground next door, at 20 Burling Ln., on a six-story, 110-unit building called The Millennia geared toward millennials and young professionals.
A larger third project, called The Luxuria, will target empty nesters. That building won’t be proposed until 2019, Hammel said.

The idea is simple: Work with the local community to turn abandoned, underused, and new spaces into idea labs, production studios, maker spaces, black box theaters, coworking spaces, and housing for technologists and artists. In all, the program is slated to extend to 12 million square feet across the entire downtown core. And if it succeeds, it could serve as a blueprint for countless other small or neglected cities looking to redefine themselves around new technologies.

I’m very thrilled about the developer that’s overhauling the entire area around Burling Lane. On the MillenniaNR website, there’s a graphic that includes an overhead map of the area, the completed, proposed & U/C projects, with description for each one.

Mr. Hammel said it best… this city will be totally unrecognizable in a few years time. There’s so much going on right now that it almost makes up for the dreary past decade or so. I remember the LeCount Square project (Cappelli) that totally fell through. It was incredibly ambitious but was almost impossible due to the financial crisis around 2008.

here’s an account of that meeting.
The New Rochelle IDA will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 6th at 7:30 PM. Immediately after the hearing the New Rochelle IDA will act on a SEQRA Determination and Authorization for the owner of 255 Huguenot Street.
In exchange for approving its plan, the building owner is offering to open up what the City is calling a “gateway” to the downtown area from the Metro-North Train Station to Ruby Dee Park, constructing a second building on the parcel at 255 Huguenot Street with a road open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic running between the two buildings.

Pratt Landing will create a modern LI Sound community. There are many quaint cities and towns that line the sound which take full advantage of their waterfront. Hopefully they plan for flooding?

It’s a shame this project wont take off for a while, but it is understandable considering the current DPW facility is there and they will obviously have to move it and then decontaminate the land. I like the idea of redeveloping this waterfront area. We’re really the only city in the area without a decent looking waterfront space. I can see how flooding could be a concern, the site isn’t that high above sea level… I’m sure they will take this into account with their final plans.
This, along with the other recent and future downtown development will totally help to invigorate the city itself.

the new building for 255 Huguenot is IDA approved, heading for a planning board review in October. 25 stories is the max height - which is nothing to be scoffed at in NR.

Can’t see the article or anything since it’s behind a pay wall, but I hope they emphasized that the tower would come in a second phase. I also am hoping that the tower would include a lot of office space, I think we could use some more in the midst of all the new residential units popping up. Retail would be nice too 
Just wanted to post details regarding another project in the Burling Lane area which was presented at the latest planning board meeting. From the same developers behind “the Millennia”, ELD Properties has proposed “New Ro Studios”, a six-story building with 71 luxury units designed with artists in mind. It will include a workshop in the basement, musical performance space, as well as an exhibition space.
You can see that they plan to implement some type of art / mural on one side of the building, which I assume will be handled by a local artist. The design of the building in general looks great, at least imo. It gives a bit of an old industrial vibe.
Apologies for the lower quality screenshot, I wish the city would upgrade their cameras for once… the project will be further discussed at the next planning board meeting.

Thanks for posting this, but yikes, a gated community? And the design… Reminds me of the stuff they build in Edgewater in Bergen County or the stuff they used to build in JC in the early 90s.
I guess it’s better than an empty lot.
