Some fantasy rail maps are created by railfans, others by government agencies or consultants. In any case, the outcome is the same: none of this will be financed or built within our lifetimes.
Tri-Rail risks shutting down by 2028 if they can’t get new funding other than what they sourced from the counties they serve. Instead of widening and expanding a highway through Miami to “improve” capacity, they should put that money to better use and upgrade Tri-Rail and other transit services.
Since this is Florida, anything that makes sense is thrown out the window.
I know, right! It’s almost as if the federal government hates anything good and would rather promote wasteful and backwards-thinking highway widening schemes (the denser the area it’s built through, the better)
The arched bridge is cool, though, but Miami needs more transit, not more highways.
I saw the bridge on the way to somewhere in Miami Beach. Cool bridge but the abysmal traffic there is only going to worsen when its done. I-395 and the god awful I-95 sewer already suck especially at rush hour. More transit is definitely needed.
