Las Vegas | MSG - The Sphere | 366 FT

Just saw the post on MSG London. Didn’t know it was up in the air. Still think one in the Hudson would be super.

This thing will be in financial trouble imo. Not building it, but the operating costs and booking it.

Well, I saw the Earth and the moon. They looked great. Really great. Looking forward to Jupiter!

A look on the inside in MSG Sphere

There’s a live stream here: https://www.youtube.com/live/kzCreOvHJ8A?si=Zb-baaAWcKcLvOOe

Looks pretty great and bright during the day. Also, I like how you can see through the outer structure. You can scroll back the past 12 hours to see how it looks.

I’m impressed!

It’s really cool and impressive from a tech perspective. Meanwhile back in NYC we’re stuck with the crappier version of MSG sitting oppressively on the most used train station in North America. Quite depressing.

They need to come to a solution and build an arena worthy of New York. This is just wayyyy too cool!

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw the inside as well. Come on NYC y’all got this, TSX
is great but isn’t the best y’all can do

The thing with MSG Sphere is it is not equal to MSG in NYC because it is not an arena and cant host events outside of concerts as it is not built as such since the sphere concept is based around a concert experience with an interior layout which can’t be reconfigured.

Sure, an MSG Sphere could be built in NYC but an MSG arena would have to be built too and that wouldnt really make sense unless the sphere concept is redesigned on the interior to have a layout whose main focus is an arena and not a concert venue that is one sides.

True, I’d just want something that I can look at and be proud of. Looking at all the new Las Vegas venues like MSG Sphere and Allegiant Stadium and comparing them to MSG and MetLife, they are far superior.

The Sphere is designed to be reconfigured and can host a very wide variety of events beyond concerts.

Not sure where you’ve seen that, but the seating configuration is permanent, it is not made of moveable/reconfigurable structure. The building is permanently one sided/one directional on the interior like a concert hall.

When I said concert, I didn’t mean just music related events, but it cannot host arena like events like all the different events at MSG NY because it is one sided.

Yes, it’s obviously not an arena layout.

I just meant that the floor seating is removable and it is intentionally designed to be reconfigured for many different types of events. Not all the same types of events as an arena, but way more than concerts.

Check out the last two pages of this document about the planned London location, which is designed to be the same inside, and host the same variety of events. It shows eight different configurations:

If you built one of these in NY you might not have to have the glowing outside screen. I think it would be far too bright anyways.

The Sphere’s lit exterior is very Vegas. It could also work in Dubai, Shanghai, and other places where they like bright, shiny things

The inside sphere is also much smaller than the outside one. If you got rid of the outside sphere you could find many more places to build these experiences.
