That’s not necessarily true, the infrastructure and structure around the interior sphere is necessary for the sphere, it can’t function as just the interior shell. Height wise there is a clear difference between the inner and outer shells, but diameter wise (which is what matters), the difference is negligible.
I bet it could be built inside a cube that isn’t much larger than the interior sphere.
Every review I’ve read is that the Sphere sucks. It’s a terrible place to see a concert. And it isn’t an arena, it’s basically a theme park that can host events, but those events recede into the background. U2 is basically a background stage prop to the light show. Dolan, once again, strikes out. He thinks he’s smarter than everyone else, and never learns.
I disagree. This venue seems very versatile. I can think of tons of amazing concepts with a venue like this.
Got any links to those reviews?
Here’s to hoping we get something this fun and interactive in NY.
What a clown
Pro-life Spiderman! Love watching his climbing! As well as “The French Spiderman” Alain Roberts. I’d never climb a tower like this, but I get why people do it. I don’t support property damage, but I support the freedom the climbers want to feel and their message. Plus I wouldn’t call him a clown when he did it to raise money for a mother facing uncertain pregnancy
Yes, nothing like a white alpha male getting a slap on the wrist for trespassing and vandalism, all in the name of telling women what they should be able to do with their bodies.
Reckless misogyny and a waste of police resources - coming soon to a high-rise near you!

Finally had a chance to visit the Sphere in person and let’s just say, I’m jealous that NY doesn’t have an attraction/experience like this. I will post more later when I get the chance to.
It would amazing in Times Square.
The sphere is perfect for Vegas. NY does not need one.
Outside
Inside. They had three or four robots that guest could interact and ask questions. The whole place felt pretty futuristic.
The parent company behind MSG sphere is making plans to build the next American sphere in Maryland, 15 minutes south of Washington D.C.
I just found this location on google earth, it’s literally overlooking the entire city of DC. Awful location. The only other cities in the world that would suit something like this besides Vegas are those futuristic ones in China.
It would be hysterical if this got shot down because the Trump administration insisted it had to be “classical” architecture. (Although if they promised to build it like the Volkshalle of Germania, they might get the thumbs up.)
How would they try to do that?
Is it being built on federal land?
I was being facetious. But they are trying to do it with New York Penn Station and municipal buildings all around the country they don’t have direct jurisdiction over, so I wouldn’t be surprised if one reichslieter or another made a stink about it.
Tell me you haven’t been to DC without having to tell me you’ve never been to DC.
This is well outside of the city. The highway is 495 which is highly trafficked. The proposed location is National Harbor, a mall and convention center. It is across from Alexandria, not Arlington or DC and other than National Harbor there is basically nothing of note at this location that would have to be cleared.
