JERSEY CITY | 501 Summit Ave | 556 FT | 53 FLOORS

Well I guess now we know what was causing this slight delay - waiting for that financing. Part of the next wave of towers coming up in the neighborhood! Glad to see another parking lot bite the dust.

There was a groundbreaking ceremony today:

Photo from the groundbreaking, with the mayor. They are digging down to 14 feet below street level, and they’re already at least halfway down.

Maybe one or two more weeks of excavation left…

We’re finally seeing some structure coming up, after 8 months of site prep and excavation.

This concrete pad must be for a structural column, perhaps the elevator core.

EDIT: Can someone reply to this thread so I can continue posting updates?

It’ll be real interesting seeing the skyline from neighboring towns in a few years.

Finally taking shape

Two weeks, two more floors in place. I believe the Summit Ave side of the podium is now topped off…you can see some rebar for the tower portion rising above the podium.

The rear (Magnolia Ave) part of the podium is rising slower and still has a couple of floors to go.

2 weeks, 3 floors. The pace is one floor every 5 days…could be topped out in 6 or 7 months. In other news, it’s kind of a shame that the frontal view of Journal Squared will be blocked, but that’s the name of the game.
