JERSEY CITY | 444 Washington Boulavard | 721 FT | 70 FLOORS

This would make for a good morning YIMBY article. 721 ft for Jersey City. Which is still big for Jersey City.

Click to zoom and see highlighted portion. New application on record.

That would make for great morning news indeed! Good find. That would make it the fourth tallest in the city. Journal Squared 2 being third. There were plans for this site a long time ago, I guess they’re finally moving forward.

Woah, great scoop! This will really stand out in this part of the skyline since everything around it is more or less the same height. I hope it goes through!

Renderings Unearthed for Approved 70-Story Avalon Tower in Jersey City | Jersey Digs

Designed by Manhattan-based Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel Architects, the 950-unit Avalon Tower will rise just about 722 feet high at its highest point, with a shorter section topping out at 575 feet. Under the plans, the high-rise will be constructed near the northwest corner of the premises, while a six-story parking garage and retail facility will be built along Washington Boulevard just south of the tower.
The 145,216-square-foot parking garage just south of the tower will include 382 spaces for residents plus a health club and 17,192 square feet of retail space split between four different storefronts facing Washington Boulevard. A new service road will be created between the buildings for loading and parking access, and an additional 130-space surface parking lot will include spots set aside for those visiting the project’s retail component.
Both new buildings will utilize aluminum and brushed stainless steel on their exteriors.

I hope they continue to work on this facade more… lol. It looks super generic.

News???

My guess is based on the interest rate environment we currently in that this project is on hold for the moment.

If there was news about such a big project, it would be posted, so no need to bump.

This project seems totally dead for the moment. Building code has changed since they submitted their application, and they did not apply for building permits by the deadline that would’ve allowed them to build without major amendments. And they have not submitted an application for any amendments or extensions to their planning board approval since the code change.
