Two developments heading to the JC planning board this week:
Both of these were approved:
I’m glad this area is a work in progress but it’s still an island to me. Directly to the south you have 78, to the west is the rocky/tree filled hill up to the heights, north is the train tracks and east is warehouses.
Even though the developments are beautiful, there’s nothing you can walk to like a park or the grocery store. Unless you want to risk running across a highway.
Yes, it’s still very much disconnected from the rest of the city. As a pedestrian, it’s hard to even walk over there since you have to cross the highway first. It’s doable, but it’s not pleasant. Hopefully, the extension of the light rail, the new park, and some safety for pedestrians will help bridge that gap. Even with all that proposed retail, there won’t be any foot traffic if people have no means to getting there besides a car.
Construction permits issued today for 286 Coles (aka 258-282 Sixteenth St)…the 670-unit, 21-story building on the whole block bounded by Coles St, 16th St, Jersey Ave, and 17th St.
