In the future, this will be a nice walkable plaza with towers on either side

I understand this to be the mural design that will be installed on the east-facing facade.

I suppose this will be put on hold temporarily since Katerra looks like they’ll be shutting down.

Probably…We can hope that the owners/ developer will get a new GC soon to get things running again. Calls are definitely going out for other Katerra jobs in Jersey City.

Katerra had a lot of projects in Jersey City and the area. Definitely going to slow down for a bit.

Looks like they changed the artwork. I liked the one you posted better but this one is also good.

Yeah. The original artist had to bail (never learned why) and a new artist was picked.

Looks like eutrochium purpureum. Good native plant.

Are they required to mural large blank walls like this in JC?

The redevelopment plan for this neighborhood requires them to do something to it, be that a mural, some sort of facade treatment that breaks it up, etc.

Taken the other day from a car, hence the weird blue filter lol. Huge change from just a few years ago.

Definitely finished. The coffeeshop on the ground floor is already open as well. Moved it to completed.

Amazing. It’s so good to see that area of JC brighten up. It’s never good to have a bunch of skyscrapers bunched together in one place without business/retail/cafes available. Journal Square is developing at a rapid place, and I am hoping the new cafe gets good business!
