This is a big one! This has been in the works for awhile and it was first proposed a few years back, but with a different design. They redesigned it and went back to the board and now it’s back! The are currently demoing the site. Here are some facts about the project:
Address: 500 W Van Buren Street
Office: 1,500,000 s.f. (139,355 sqm)
Height: 715ft (218m)
And a current picture of the site (November 5th):
In my opinion, it kinda just looks like 110 Wacker. But it’s ok, it’s definitely not the ugliest! I like the height of it a lot!
Everything is at ground level! Hopefully they start digging soon! Taken December 18th:
beats an oversized parking lot that’s for sure.
I always wondered why there aren’t more big office buildings near Union station given its a big commuter hub
That has always been my exact same thought. It seems like there are still a lot of old crappy buildings there that could be used for great big office buildings. Hopefully this will be looked at more as a good area for businesses. Crossing my fingers!
some progress but not as much as I’d like to see. I will admit though, the weather has been WACK here in the midwest. Hopefully we see some more progress in the coming months! (feb 12):
This tower looks like it will be fantastic.
The apts are WAY cheaper -
