I mean what did you expect? It’s right by thurway and surrounded by three different parkways. The majority of people who go travel by car or bus.

Also, from a realistic standpoint, this has to be one of the ones that get chosen. It would be unfair to the city of Yonkers if all three downstate casinos were in NYC. There would be no way they can compete with that.

But isn’t it already a casino? Why are they competing for a license is what confuses me.

It’s a racino, not a full gaming casino. Empire City only has slot machines, electric table games, and race horses. They need a license before they can become a full casino.

Who cares??? I didn’t realize one of the requirements was to be fair. It was to maximize benefit.

The only reason that anyone is even having this discussion is because the racino is already there. There is zero actual reason to give Yonkers a license over NYC lol.

Yonkers should get that license. With the racino already in place, this gives it a head start, community ties, and a proven infrastructure that only one other casino contender can claim. The existing setup maximizes benefit by building on what’s already working, which is drawing steady revenue and jobs to a city that needs the boost.

Concentrating all three casinos in NYC would oversaturate the market and drowns out Yonkers’ potential. Fairness demands giving it a shot to thrive, not just handing everything to the city.
