If the NIMBYs won’t interfere and the FAA approves it, then yeah I think it’s technically possible.

I would pay money just to look at this building by Frank Wright.

Absolutely! I have always wondered if he was thinking that the other side would be the same, like a cathedral.

The Dubai One Tower was a proposed megatall residential building in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. At 711 metres it would have been the tallest residential building in the world and the 4th tallest building in the world when completed.

This building was canceled.

The Houston Tower was a visionary skyscraper to be built in Houston. It was one of the tallest buildings ever fully envisioned, and would have taken up 16 city blocks if ever constructed. Its design was reminiscent of the Willis Tower, only the “tubes” in the Houston Tower would number 16 and be triangular.

The Grollo Tower, designed by Denton Corker Marshall architects, had an interesting second and third lives after becoming a never-built in Melbourne. First as the initial design for the site that would become Burj Khalifa (proposed by Grocon, the developer behind Grollo Tower):

and later popping up as the unbuilt Doha Convention Centre-- designed by Helmut Jahn’s firm, but with an uncanny similarity:

The Khaleesi. A concept for 41 West 57th…

I really, really, really love this concept. If this could go up somewhere in nyc it would be amazing. Somewhere around 1,500 would be nice.
