Fun fact, the billionaire who tried to stop this bridge was the same guy who bought the Michigan Central Station and let the thing go to hell. Its the building that every photographer around the globe in the early 2000’s came to know the symbol of Detroits decline. That was back when taking photos of urban blight was cool/edgy. This building was one of the main reasons the rust belt become a hotbed for urban explorers looking for abandoned things.
Any plans for a renovation in the works?
Don’t know. I just remember reading about the station back when abandoned buildings were all the rage in the 00’s.
It’s part of a larger redevelopment of the existing area. From looking at the articles, the renovation to the station should be complete sometime next year.
Per Deja Vu:
Pier table work has commenced on the bridge. If you don’t know what that means, watch this short, informative video -
Can’t have shit in Detroit
Just cars or also trains?
I think trains go under a tunnel in the Detroit river.
Reminds me of the Stan Musial bridge in St Louis. Go Detroit!
