QueensLink aims to reconnect north and south Queens with a subway and new parks

Sixty-four years ago, the city shut down Queens only north-south rail corridor. Eight years ago, the MTA said that reactivating the line as a subway was feasible. The Queenslink project will bring the M service to the Rockaways and restore G service to Forest Hills, benefiting 75,000 daily riders.

Now, the city wants to spend $43 million to build a 5-acre, transit-blocking park called QueensWay that will eventually cost over $ 500 million. Keeping communities disconnected ain’t cheap!

One step forward, ten steps backwards.

What an enormously disappointing announcement. Mamdani’s first major mistake.
