Construction update:
Phase 2 of the Ballantine has already begun demolition, I mentioned it in my other post on this thread.
648-652 Raymond Blvd, a five story, 120 unit, mixed use building with roughly 2,800 square feet of retail space. Weirdly enough, the gas station that was surrounded by the construction has also been demolished, could’ve been incorporated into the site.
It’s sad to be losing the last of Ballantine Brewery empire In Newark. The original building on Rector St. should have been saved and converted into a museum but it too shares the fate of the later buildings i.e. being replaced with luxury apartments. ![]()
Update:
The curb extensions are part of a broader project that aims at adding new sidewalks, trees, and curb extensions on Ferry Street. Here is a rough map of the construction activity.
Plus a few pictures of the new sidewalks facing the big box stores
Update on phase 2 of the Ballantine:
Did you notice the new sidewalks on the right side of the image?
Update:
Temporary sidewalks made of asphalt were set up on some parts but other parts have completed sidewalks with new trash bins
