L+M, Prudential Appear to be Planning New Newark Development:
As a New Jerseyan, it’s so cool to see Newark starting to redevelop. I honestly thought I’d never see the day this city started to pull out of it’s economic slump. While there’s still a lot of work to be done, these projects are a good sign I think
I agree. Newark holds lots of promise, and I hope it will return to its glory. Newark use to be the place to be back in the day. Its a gem of a city that just needs some fixing.
But last couple of years have seen some promise with new developments, and I feel Newark will go the way of Jersey City.
Development in downtown and nearby areas is popping up quickly. But in the long term the biggest and so far not well met need is rejuvenation if a depleted housing stock. Apartments downtown are great but the central ward still shows many signs of devastation from the urban disturbances of decades ago. Some new stuff is up but much more is needed.
