South pool is flowing again
The South Pool of The Footprint of the South Tower Looks Amazing And im Glad the pool is finally Up and Flowing Once again…
They definitely look a lot better since their deep clean. I didn’t realize just how dirty they were but it makes sense given they hadn’t had such a thorough deep clean since they opened
They opened 14 years ago, crazy.
I may be wrong but I don’t think they’re done with the South Pool just yet. It looks like they didn’t deep clean the inner void (yet?) as they did with the North Pool. I anticipate this will be drained again and completed by the anniversary or they will do it after. I recall something similar happening with the North Pool though again I can be completely wrong ![]()
The critics are calling for the National Parks Service to take over the management of the museum. Maybe not a great idea right now
It definitely is not a good idea to give the NPS control, considering they can be micromanaged at the whims of Washington. I don’t think the site should be subject to the political will of a president, who can exert authority over the Park Service, especially the current one, who’s been trying to implement historical revisionism in a number of sites.

Why didn’t they place these beams on the bottom of each of the memorial pools?
They would blind everyone, there was no way to shield the lights from view while still allowing them to beam upward. The fixtures are also relatively large, so space was also probably an issue, not to mention that there would have to be about 4x more fixtures to run the perimeter of the pools.
That makes sense, but they also could’ve been placed in the center deeper square. But still, if it’s so bright it doesnt matter.
As far as I’m aware the Tribute in Lights have never been lit up in the site. I believe the first times were to the north of the site
Yep, they’ve always been ontop of the battery parking garage.
Almost! The very first time in 2002.
They should’ve arranged them in the inner holes of the pools, but turning off the water for such a night would perhaps be needed to not bend the rays.
Ah good catch, how could I forget their first appearance on the lot of the Goldman Sachs building!
