The smallest smidge of it* if that is indeed it to the left of The W at the bottom of 7 WTC.
30 HY is so far back on the Island that from this angle it only looks like a 700’ building
Yes, that’s it. Here is a screenshot of the original shot
I keep getting these little teasers of the building everytime I visit. I haven’t seen the building fully clad in person yet!
Stirk was wise to have the addition of the metal on 3 WTC, look how it reflects the color on the Oculus! I love that! I hope 2 WTC has thick shiny metal columns up and down the building like One and 3 WTC, just to see the same visual
3 WTC’s lighting on the bracing is practically unnoticeable from that angle (then again it’s invisible from a lot of perspectives). It had some amazing potential to look cool and it was wasted. I also see 4 WTC’s top light strip is still broken.
Maintenance on these towers are a joke. I don’t understand how the most significant piece of land in our country is treated the way it is.
Agree, and what’s going on with the retail portion of WTC3? I remember there was some trouble between the Port Authority and Silverstein
I didn’t know there was a dispute between the PA and Silverstein as it related to the retail leasing/first 3 floors lol. All the retail and retail leasing is technically handled by Westfield, I just thought that retail leasing was slow at the moment, but some spaces have been filled up, just very slowly, like Sweetgreen, which opened in Q4 2021.
Yes, that sweetgreen is nice. I like to sit there in the summer when they have tables outside. I’d love to see all the empty retail following the same idea.
You are right, Westfield, not Silverstein.
Here is the article from 2019:
A lot has happened since then…
Ah, I had forgotten about that ordeal, it’s so unfortunate that something so seemingly simple was handled so poorly, and still continues to be handled poorly RE the lack of retail open at 3 WTC. Comparatively, 4 WTC looks great with it’s completely filled retail, especially at night, when it isn’t dark and barren like it’s neighbor is.
The fact that 2 large restaurants could have opened but were tired of waiting is annoying and the same goes for all the empty store fronts in the Oculus and the tunnel corridors.
Speaking from experience, Westfield has to deal with the Port Authority and whoever is trying to lease space has to deal with a laundry list of vendors when it comes to permitting, design professionals, etc. The Port Authority handles all permits, inspections, etc. There’s so much paperwork and approvals to go through I’m sure a lot of would be tenants eventually just go elsewhere. Which is unfortunate considering how much retail is left unoccupied.
Makes me so angry.
Geezzz, now that’s a mess!
So I can give an update on the hot dogs around the Trade Center. I had one at the corner of Church and Fulton, I hesitated because of the terrible doggy last time (and I do the same thing with calamari in the area because onetime I was so upset with it in SI). But it was actually basic tasting but good. 6/10
