Unless they start building this year or early next year, I don’t see 2 WTC being done before 2026. Then again it may be faster because the foundations are already done.

Which is unfortunate because 2026 is both the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and the 250th anniversary of the countries independence.

Wasn’t it stated that it’ll be complete around 2027 or 2028?

On some documents findings yeah. And I’ve heard that they may focus on 2 WTC once the Performing Arts Center is completed and 5 WTC is off the ground

That’s a nice design!

How old is this? Still has the original 2 WTC design

Not to mention you can see the glimpse of one of the spires of 3 WTC

Is this a real project?

I think it belongs more in the topic of unbuilt skyscrapers than here. Or it’s a very new (current) project.

„Our concept for the tower began with our ambition to elevate the experience of residents living it. Beginning with a triangular footprint orientated to capture maximum levels of sunlight, the tower is extruded up to 80 storeys, with a dynamic twist in the middle of the tower to offer expansive views across New York and the Hudson River from all apartments.

This is nice. We need more modern towers down there. I’m tired of the bland and pre-modern FiDi buildings down there.

@mcart Considering it says the client is Brookfield Properties and the proposal is on the location of the NYMEX Building which wasn’t purchased by BP until 2013 and integrated with the rest of Brookfield Place, I’d say it’s from sometime between then and now. Which I guess isn’t really that helpful.

@Jaydayvis do you mean to say International style (which there are definitely a lot of)? Unless you meant to say Early Modern, which would mean all the older early 1900 FiDi buildings, which aren’t bland.

This is a questionable project, because surely there would have been some news if Brookfield was intending to redevelop/demolish the NYMEX building/site. The website (even though a notable firm) mentions the building as a Megatall when it appears to barely even be a supertall.

I went on their website and that was in literally the first sentence. Lol

That would honestly look so gross especially considering the position and what’s there currently

I actually like this design a lot. I love how flowing it is and all the curves. Like a mini Shanghai Tower. And hey, if they want it to be a megatall that’s fine by me.

I’m not that opposed to the design but I also don’t like it. It looks slightly out of place. I think if a tower similar to WilkinsonEyre’s One Barangaroo with some curves “and” hard edges was here it would look better.

Considering it’d have to just about be 3 times taller than depicted to be a megatall, I don’t think they could reach that with the proposed 1 million sqft.

If the design is being published quietly by the architecture firm without any official announcement by the developer, is it likely that the project has been abandoned long enough to leave NDA?
