NEW YORK | RIU Hotel (145 W 47th St) | 519 FT | 48 FLOORS

Seems strange to me that the ceilings on the 2nd & 3rd floor are so low. I would guess retrofitting will be tough to do in the future./

I’m like a plumber because I like to see crap removed from NY.

POS Plumbers Inc. Removing the crap from NY, one POS parcel at a time.

Maybe you could put a Cellino and Barnes ring to it to get folks on the idea.

Riu Hotel Continues Ascent At 145 West 47th Street In Times Square

The reinforced concrete slabs and columns of the Riu Hotel continue to rise at 145 West 47th Street near Times Square. Berg + Moss Architects is the designer and Tribeach Holdings is the developer of the 343-room hotel, which will eventually reach 27 stories and encompass 141,500 square feet of newly built space.

New photos show the safety netting installed on the northern and southern elevations of the superstructure.

The formation of the core can be spotted from West 48th Street across an empty plot of land at the back of the property, where the exterior hoist is located. The site’s tight footprint initially hampered construction progress, but things should speed up with the repetitive shape of each floor plate. Stories seven through 26 will house about 17 rooms each, while the podium will have a multi-level parking garage and a restaurant.

Riu Hotel opened its first Times Square location at 305 West 46th Street along Eighth Avenue. Although official renderings for the new West 47th street location have not been released yet, it is likely that it could feature a similar façade with a grid of floor-to-ceiling windows and light-colored metal panels.

145 West 47th Street is located within close proximity of a number of retail, dining, and entertainment venues, as well as transit options including the N, R, and W trains at the 49th Street Station to the north and the B, D, F, and M trains at the 47-50th Streets-Rockefeller Center station on Sixth Avenue.

Construction of 145 West 47th Street is expected to complete next winter.
