@TK2000 I don’t know if a month has been mentioned anywhere, I’ve only ever seen 2023 as a general year. I personally think mid/late Summer could be a possibility though.
@StrongIsland I believe the current plan is to just leave it as it is. When the 2 WTC site returns to a construction zone again we don’t really know the extent to which the fencing with enclose, so it could inevitably damage a completed Greenwich St. All the sidewalks and pavement as it exists now around whatever is builtup has to be ripped up to match the design conditions at the other towers and bollard/curb installation would probably entail the fence enclosure to close Greenwich St. I can see the other Streets (Fulton and Vesey) being closed to.
The Perelman website has Q1 of 2023 as a theater commissioning start date with a soft opening. Obviously they aren’t gonna make that time frame. Like TKDV said it’ll probably be around summer at the latest
Then once all of that will be done, Greenwich Street will be wide as hell once paved. And I assume the street won’t shrink to its true size until 2 World Trade hopefully starts
That definitely is interesting, I know there are openings behind the 2 right pairs, but there is nothing behind the left one, it’s just concrete. I wonder how many others do that.
It also looks like they’ve been clearing the Fulton St sidewalk portion to begin work on it, bollards have started to be installed (oddly) midway in front of the building).
Great update, thanks. Just wish they would have picked a different material for the base. A polished Absolute Black granite would have made a better look IMO.
I can definitely see that happening, though as the article mentions, barring any delays.
Continuing at a very steady pace in terms of progress. But for 2 panels, the west side of the entrance cladding is nearly finished and the slanted portion of the east side has begun. Underlayment and subgrade for the sidewalk portion of Fulton St has continued where it left off near One WTC, and more bollards have been installed near the mid portion of the building. Vapor membrane on the west plaza seems to be all installed now.
The area outside the fencing on the east side seems to now be a location to put base panels as room runs out for sidewalk/pavement works
.
The article also mentions traffic will be open to for-hire vehicles for 1WTC and the PAC- this would imply either Vesey or Fulton is going to be less locked down going forwards? Maybe coinciding with the opening of the Vesey entrance for tour bus parking under the WTC
I don’t know if that would necessarily make either street less locked down than they currently are. I’m sure the vehicle barricades will still be up all the time, and cars will still be inspected at the security access points.
