That’s a good point, Atticus.
If Brexit happens, there will be a flood of money seeking safe havens.

IDK how others feel about the whole EU thing, but I hope the UK leaves. Hopefully Germany as well. The Germans are paying to much and suffering as a result.
But yeah NY is a sanctuary wealth city. I can see the investments now! ![]()
ya I dont see how Brexit hurts US financially as much, for one we would be able to improve our trading with UK without dealing with EU. It hurts Europe alot. I think it hurts US only in the sense it decreases would wide stability.
UK should have just gone to the EU and said its us or Greece. Greece is the core of the issues, its where the refugees are flowing from into the rest of Europe and their economy is a drag.
It’s a short term hit, but the U.S. usually gains as a result of others economic suffering. Grim, but true.
Just check the real estate in Miami. Biggest buyers? Brazilians.
Like RW mentioned, a flood of capital to safe havens.
I think it’s in the UK’s best interest to stay, so I hope that they do. It will be very close.
OT, but here is a constantly updated count: EU Referendum Results - BBC News
The London metro area will be the biggie. Still counting in that area.
looks like early results are leaning to leave. IMO London would be more for stay, and the other areas more for leave.
love the way they do the voting. Its like each town is voting in or out. Oxfort is in, St. Helens is out etc.
lol wow, the vote slightly in lead for leave and Dow Futures already down 339
I’ve seen that, but based upon the Scottish independence vote last year, things can change very rapidly.
I’m just worried about my stocks if Brexit gets the vote
dow futures down 399 just because early results trending leave.
lol wow this is nuts. Down back to 220 down right after Glasgow announcement votes in heavily.
I am an American patriot and I want a BREXIT because it will mean good things ahead for New York City (The City of London will be crushed by a Brexit) and its real estate!
That and the US can use this to draw closer to UK.
BREXIT looks very likely now… yikeeeees
is this good or bad for US? I know short term the markets will freak out. But I dont think that will last, it will just be a knee jerk reaction.
I think that the short-term implications may actually be surprisingly positive from a capital flight perspective (out of Europe). But I think the long-term implications are a negative as the capital flight is due to decreasing stability, and a less-unified Europe (which is an artifact of NATO’s strength and the fall of the USSR) is probably a + sign for Russia/China, which by default is bad for the US.
Political stability of alliances and partnerships is crucial… it is how the world has come to be dominated under a Pax Americana. I am nervous this is just the first blow to the EU and signals the start of its devolution.
It’s official. They voted out.
bad day for socialism!.
with the weakening of fiscal instruments to pool cash there will be a rush on hard assets. Gold is going up. Real estate will too. Bet those billionaires that bought a penthouse on 57th street are feeling good right now with the dollar going up and every other currency besides the Yen going down.
International investors are going to be throwing money at NYC real estate.
And now we sit back and watch the show
I am very disappointed that the majority have voted out, it’s going to be an unreliable rollercoaster ride from here
