NEW YORK | New York Casino License

Sucks that it’s because of degenerate gambling, but that huge eyesore surface parking lot will not be missed.

This is assuming that it actually means more tourism and not that the casinos are going to be ignored by the vast majority of tourists because it’s not in Manhattan. Especially the one in the Bronx.

That said the metropolitan park design is going to be amazing for the area, especially combined with the Willets point redevelopment

Hopefully once they get the official licenses, all three can start construction immediately.

The renderings show an added island platform along with elevators. It is feasible because the middle trackbed is empty.

This is the existing config. An island platform can be added.

Great news if true. This would make the hotel the second easiest to get to/from JFK, giving the TWA Hotel some much needed competition.

I very much agree with this insta video (below)!

which is why at least one of the casinos needed to be in a tourist-heavy location (as I and many here have been saying)!

Approving 3 casinos mere minutes from each other doesn’t seem rational at all to me

Metropolitan Park will probably be the most successful of all of them. I really hope local NYCers dont gamble all their money away

It’s still going to be very cumbersome to reach the hotel, even with a bidirectional Aqeduct station, as it will involve taking the Airtrain to Howard Beach and then transferring to the subway.

Once the hotel right next to Jamaica AirTrain is built, then it will become the second-easiest hotel to reach (after TWA Hotel). It will almost be like having a second on-premises airport hotel.

Interesting. Do you happen to know if it’ll connect to Jamaica station via pedestrian bridge? Their case wouldn’t be much stronger if not, IMO.
