He should build this even if he doesn’t win the casino bid. This site has been floating around for quite some time now. I’m really digging the curves.
That iteration of Silverstein’s proposal is much better than the initial one, it’s actually very nice, I much prefer this to than what was proposed at HY for Wynn. It would catch the light very beautifully.
really like this one
Cetra Ruddy have dramatically improved their design output in recent years i must say
This one’s growing on me. It’s definitely light years better than BIG’s abomination by the UN. If we get a Manhattan casino, this one since we lost the Wynn one should get the license. It’s also right by the PABT which means it has absolutely incredible transit access (since that also links up to the Times Square subway station complex as well).
Them NY Compost comments in the article are as always, hilarious. Anything nice will get crapped on by them.
I like it best of all the Manhattan proposals from an architectural and street level urbanism standpoint. I’m dubious about the transit accessibility though. Being close to PABT will mean great access for people riding in from the suburbs, but the entrance to the 42nd Street station is as far of a walk as the Hudson Yards 7 station (maybe even further.) The lack of a 10th Ave station on the 7 once again looks incredibly shortsighted.
For those reasons, I’m still in favor of the Times Square proposal: plop the tourist trap stuff where the tourists already are, directly on top of eight subway lines, and call it a day.
You can access the subway from the PABT itself. Its a bit of a hike but the option is there.
Looks like the Citi Field casino project has a better chance to possibly become reality. This one is great and replaces a massive parking lot.
