NEW YORK | New York Casino | FT | FLOORS

The same resistance happened in Chicago. Putting it in a lower class area was a bad idea so it was inevitable it would end up a nice area full of nimbys. The idea of a casino is fine, Nimbys just dont want it in their neighborhood.

I live across the street from the site and frankly don’t see how it would work. Transit in the area is quite poor. The only solution would be to build a 1st Avenue station on the 7 train (which they should build anyways).

I think the surest bet would be the southern extension of the 2nd avenue tunnel on the future T line since they aren’t likely to build a station so close to the east river.

Those are some big league NIMBYs. I wonder if Hochul/Adams have a plan in place to keep them in line or if they’re just banking on goodwill?
