NEW YORK | New York Casino | FT | FLOORS

Nimbys already out in full force before the proposals are even in. The good news is I think the opposition will probably help Times Square (which was already the most sensible location by far).

Yeah, every other proposal is a dumb waste of money as far as I’m concerned lol. It needs to go to Times Sq

Yeah the state and developers finally wants to pour money into Coney Island and of course they are against it. It’s okay. When they realize the boardwalk, Nathan’s, and the NYCHA are still the only prime things they offer 50 years from now, the new generation will accept revenue pours.

Some more Nimbys.

It’s sad how long this process is taking. Boston and Chicago have already approved casinos.

so what?

More protests on Long Island yesterday.

Is there any room and demand for an ultra luxury casino in say, the Hamptons? Feel like the same goers would also just go to nyc.

It’s impossible to get around the Hamptons in the summer now, imagine if there was a casino too.

There’s no demand there cause there’s a Jakes 58 right off the LIE and there’s a casino on the reservation off sunrise highway I believe (idk). Plus it’s highly NIMBY over there + the traffic is already unstable over there due to the fact that the only road is two lanes.

Broadway theatre owners are opposing Times Square.

“which says the casino would harm the area’s local character and keep people, notably tourists, from the area.”

The delusion is great with this one. Lol

That doesn’t really bid well for the TS proposal since one of the criteria to meet is that there has to be community support for it and if Broadway is opposing it, well that’s a big side jab.

Ig. But it also has strong backing from other groups

Speaking of the Casinos. Were it my choice, I’d go for the Times Square one, The HY one, and the Willets Point/Citi Field one. Just my opinion.
