This is a general topic on NY museum conversions and renovations.
The Studio Museum cut ties with David Adjaye due to serious allegations of impropriety. But the YIMBY website still suggests there is a relationship there, and what’s more includes his knighthood in its headline!
Was just scrolling through Atchain’s Vimeo channel to see if I could find any more leaked NYC stuff. Nothing groundbreaking, but I did find this animation of an unbuilt Foster + Partners renovation of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The commission eventually went to David Chipperfield, who was later dumped by the museum and replaced by Frida Escobedo. Her design has not been revealed yet.
This is a project by the world-renowned starchitect Robert A.M. Stern.
I’ll contribute even though I don’t even think I know all the pre-expansion areas of NY’s big museums.
Looks very bland. Why did they shut down a gallery for 4 years for this?
It will now be called “New York Historical” (without the hyphen).
