I’d love for these two, dirty pieces of junk to be redeveloped.li

The problem with lots that small is that they will eventually come down— only to make way for weird skinny Kaufman hotels. Missed opportunity for sure
If they didn’t sell to this developer, they probably won’t be redeveloped.
Would have been dope to see that corner fill up a bit more.
That was initially the plan as I recall. It looks like they scaled it down. It’s sad that they could not acquire these grimy pieces of garbage.
I would’ve also liked the retail annex to have been atleast 3 stories but renders from 2016 always showed it as being 1 story tall, its just that it ended up being a few feet shorter (from the ceiling and parapet height being shortened) than was shown in those render and also somewhat “flatter” as the parapet appeared to be recessed from the glass face in the renders. Even the swooping bent rods were removed, that entire thing was scratched. It’s just a bland blank wall now.
I wonder if they’re still trying to acquire the two crappy parcels that sit in the middle of the developer’s. They could build a nice boutique hotel with retail at the base if they acquired them. Those two little drab taxpayers are too small to build anything on and have no independent value.
This building has turned out completely uninspiring, and ordinary looking. This was anticipated by many to be something special, a work of Capital “A” architecture, and it has turned out to be quite a dud. This is a big name architecture firm, and a well known developer; so the high expectations were well warranted.
It is, in the final analysis, a nice enough looking structure: but IMHO - a big disappointment.
I recently walked by this building; and this was basically my attitude about the final product.
Sorry Mad-House: but this gets a “c” grade for - Could have been better…
This building looks like a much smaller Guangzhou CTF Finance Center
