I think if LIC continues at this pace, 700 ft will be a filler. For now though, this will stand out no doubt. In 2022, it might not. Wasn’t to long ago that 500 ft was tall for Brooklyn, now, its a mid rise.
True but we are slowly running out of large lot space I believe. At least in the Jackson/23rd Street/Queens Plaza triangle of streets.
I wish we could build the tallest supertall the FAA would allow… even if it is 984 feet.
Does anyone know with supporting evidence if that could ever happen or has LGA forsaken LIC forever?
where is this view from? is this view from within manhattan?
My guess is it’s due north of downtown LIC. Definitely not Manhattan tho.
Nah you can get that shot with a telephoto lens or good zoom. The grid of Manhattan aligns with LIC pretty well. You can see parts of the Queens skyline as you walk the streets especially in the 50s.
Edit:
Ok I wanted to solve the puzzle. It appears to be 55th Street. Not sure of the avenue yet. Perhaps 6th but unsure if the photo is cropped. The church in the photo on the left appears to be the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church.
But from Manhattan, the subject building is oriented differently. Its wide side faces Manhattan. It his photo, the skinny side is facing the camera and it’s on the right of the skyline.
You see, 43-30 24th street is north of One Court Square. And in the photo, OCS is in the background. I think it was taken from the Queensboro Bridge.
I took it from Broadway at 55th in Manhattan!
I think we’re referring to two different photos. ALC11’s photo above your response is taken from the north, you are correct. It actually appears to be from the MTA Queensboro Plaza’s platform since the main structure of the 59th Street bridge is further west.
But Jaydayvis is referring to JC_Heights’ photo which is from Manhattan.
Makes more sense now. Thanks.
Many thanks for your very nice pictures, and also for updating the individual projects.
I have to say that LIC has changed a lot since my last visit (2017). For me, the small building that is nearing completion on 42nd Road is the most beautiful building in this area.
keep taking such great pictures
